We all know the feeling — a mountain of tasks, no motivation in sight, and a brain that refuses to cooperate.

For those of us with ADHD, it’s not just procrastination. It’s dopamine-drought.

But what if we could trick our brains into having fun? What if productivity didn’t have to feel so… serious?

Welcome to the magical world of gamification 🎮

You can watch the video on my YouTube Channel

💥 Why Gamification Works for ADHD Brains

Gamification reminds us that if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing the fun way.

ADHD brains naturally have lower dopamine levels — and we tend to burn through dopamine faster than neurotypical brains. Dopamine isn’t just a “reward” chemical; it’s also our motivation fuel. Without it, getting started (and finishing) even simple tasks can feel impossible.

This is why adding fun, novelty, rewards or silliness to your daily life can change everything.

Gamification creates mini dopamine hits along the way, helping us:

✅ Get started

✅ Stay engaged

✅ Actually finish the thing!

🍾 Introducing… Bad Day Bingo 🎲

I created this during my corporate HR days, when morale was low and everyone was dreading the week. I made bingo cards with 9 awful-but-likely scenarios (e.g. "Awkward email thread spiral", "Call from that client", "Mysterious tech fail"). Whoever ticked them all off first got the Prosecco from the fridge.

It turned a terrible day into a shared laugh — and gave us a sense of control over the chaos.

👉 Download your own Bad Day Bingo template here:

Use it when you're dreading a long day, or to share with friends or colleagues as a fun twist on emotional resilience. Yes, you can even play it over text!

💬 Therapy Note: You’re Allowed to Do It the Fun Way

There’s a weird narrative out there that being playful, whimsical or creative makes you “less adult.” That if it’s fun, it’s not serious. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Fun is fuel for the ADHD brain. If it helps you do the thing — it’s valid. If it makes you smile — it’s valid.

So whether it’s bingo, glitter pens, silly rituals, or reward stickers — do whatever works for you.
